NPA CEO sets up 24-hour economy committee to drive downstream petroleum operations

Ghana’s National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Godwin Edudzi Tamekloe, has announced the formation of a 24-hour Economy Steering Committee aimed at expanding round-the-clock operations in the downstream petroleum sector. The initiative is intended to boost efficiency, job creation, and overall sector performance.

Mr. Tamekloe made the announcement on Tuesday, January 6, at the University of Ghana’s 77th Annual New Year School and Conference in Accra. He said the move aligns with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and President John Mahama’s Reset Agenda and 24-Hour Economy vision for a more dynamic and employment-driven economy.

According to him, the committee will provide strategic oversight, coordination, and direction for implementing the 24-hour economy framework within the downstream sector. As chair of the committee, Mr. Tamekloe pledged to address infrastructure and operational challenges to ensure smooth implementation.

He emphasized that the core objective is to sustain continuous operations in the downstream petroleum sector while creating more jobs and strengthening productivity, reaffirming the NPA’s commitment to policies that support long-term growth and efficiency.
