Star Oil Ghana has confirmed that restocking of its service stations will commence shortly after resolving a technical issue that briefly disrupted fuel supply.
In a Facebook post on Monday, March 9, the company stated that product lifting has resumed and trucks are being dispatched to replenish stations affected by the shortage. “The technical issue has been resolved. Our trucks have started lifting products and will soon begin restocking stations,” it added.
The announcement follows reports of temporary fuel shortages at several Star Oil stations, which raised concerns among motorists in parts of the country.
Star Oil clarified that the disruption was not caused by hoarding ahead of a price increase but resulted from operational challenges within the downstream petroleum supply chain. The company noted that the public holiday on Friday, March 6, further delayed scheduled petroleum lifting operations initially planned for Saturday, March 7.
It also highlighted that its stations, which generally record high sales relative to tank capacity, are more quickly affected by supply disruptions than other outlets.
