The Ghana Grid Company, GRIDCo, is set to boost regional energy trade with the launch of a major cross-border electricity transmission project between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire
Speaking at an event in Accra hosted by the West African Power Pool, Chief Executive Officer of GRIDCo, Ing. Mark Baah, announced the development of a 330-kilovolt double circuit transmission line. The project will span approximately 243 kilometers, linking the two neighbouring countries.
Ing. Baah explained that as the West African electricity market continues to grow, the current regional interconnection capacity could soon become a constraint, making this reinforcement project both timely and critical.
The initiative, estimated at €154.4 million, will cover construction, supervision, project management, and measures to address environmental and social impacts.
