The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has initiated a GH¢2.28 million power distribution project in the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency of Greater Kumasi to improve electricity reliability amid rising demand. Currently 40% complete and set for completion by the end of 2025, the project includes the construction of a new 11kV feeder line from the Kumasi Asekyem Primary Substation. This new line is designed to ease the load on the existing Kokoben and Ampabame feeders and enhance power supply to communities such as Trede, Heman, Kotwi, Pakyi, and Ahenema Kokoben.
The project scope involves installing 85 high-tension poles, 11kV headgear, and stringing new conductors to strengthen the network’s flexibility and capacity. ECG’s Ashanti West Regional Manager, George Amoah, emphasized that the initiative reflects ECG’s commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality electricity to support Ghana’s socio-economic development.
