The Ghana Trades Union Congress (TUC) has reiterated its strong opposition to the government’s ongoing push to privatize the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), citing past resolutions and public interest concerns.
In response to the 2025 Budget, the TUC urged structural reforms over privatization, blaming decades of neo-liberal policies for economic hardships like high inflation, joblessness, and unsustainable debt.
They argued that privatization threatens national control and called for a new economic model centered on job creation, domestic revenue generation, and equitable resource use.
