The management of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), led by Managing Director, Edmond Kombat, has held discussions with Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Ntow Amoah, on the government’s plan to allocate locally produced crude oil to the refinery for processing.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Managing Director of TOR, Mustapha B. Abubakar, and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of GNPC, Michael Aryeetey.
According to a statement shared by TOR on social media, the discussions focused on strengthening energy infrastructure, implementing the government’s local crude oil supply strategy in line with the President’s vision, and advancing other strategic priorities aimed at supporting the refinery’s long-term operations.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for both state-owned institutions to exchange views on developments in Ghana’s energy sector and identify areas for deeper collaboration to promote a sustainable and competitive downstream petroleum industry.
TOR noted that the engagement marked another step toward strengthening cooperation between the two organisations to support the refinery’s long-term sustainability and the development of a more resilient energy value chain. Both institutions also reaffirmed their commitment to working together to achieve their shared objectives.
Last month, Sentuo Oil Refinery, a joint venture between the Government of Ghana and China’s Sentuo Group, received one million barrels of crude oil from the Jubilee Field for refining.
TOR is also expected to receive a similar consignment of locally produced crude oil later this month.
