
Ghana’s power transmission company, GRIDCo, has announced the full restoration of electricity supply to all areas affected by a system disturbance on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
The disturbance occurred at about 4:30 a.m., resulting in widespread power outages across affected parts of the country.
In an update issued on Friday, GRIDCo said its engineers and other technical teams within the power sector immediately began efforts to restore the affected parts of the network.
According to the company, electricity supply was fully restored by 12:03 p.m. on Thursday.
GRIDCo thanked the public for their patience, understanding and cooperation during the restoration process.
The company said it would continue implementing measures aimed at improving the reliability, stability and resilience of Ghana’s transmission network and preventing future disruptions.
