Star Oil Pays GH¢2.6bn in Taxes, Consolidates Market Leadership in 2025

Star Oil, Ghana’s leading oil marketing company, paid GH¢2.6 billion in taxes and levies to the government in 2025, underscoring its growing contribution to public revenue.

The company disclosed the figures in a statement posted on its social media platforms on Tuesday, January 14, 2026.

It said the payments included GH¢41 million in corporate income tax and GH¢51.9 million in withholding tax and PAYE contributions.

Star Oil also remitted about GH¢1.7 billion in customs duties on imported fuel during the year.

The disclosure comes as the firm consolidates its position at the top of Ghana’s petroleum retail market.
Star Oil said it sold about 819 million litres of petroleum products in 2025 through its network of 254 filling stations nationwide.

The company employed 2,714 people and held an estimated 14% share of the retail fuel market by the end of the year.

Industry data from the National Petroleum Authority showed that Star Oil overtook state-owned GOIL to become market leader in early 2025.

Between January and September 2025, the company sold more than 600 million litres of fuel, maintaining its dominance in diesel, petrol and LPG supply.
