Petrol Drops Slightly as Diesel Rises in July 2025

Fuel prices in Ghana have shifted with the opening of the first pricing window of July 2025, showing a mixed trend between petrol and diesel rates.

Petrol prices have seen a marginal drop, while diesel prices have risen across most major oil marketing companies.

GOIL, the market leader, reduced its petrol price per litre from GH₵12.38 to GH₵12.07, but increased diesel from GH₵12.88 to GH₵13.20.

Shell also adjusted its rates, selling petrol at GH₵12.08 per litre, up from GH₵11.98, and diesel at GH₵13.25, up from GH₵12.85.

PETROSOL offered one of the lowest petrol prices at GH₵11.98, but diesel was higher at GH₵13.98 per litre.

These adjustments come amid industry projections of rising fuel prices, driven by earlier global oil market volatility.

However, a recent drop in global oil prices—attributed to easing tensions in the Middle East—has tempered the expected hikes for now.

Despite this, the upcoming pricing window may bring increases due to the anticipated implementation of a GH₵1 Energy Sector Levy.

Industry analysts warn that the levy could reverse the brief relief in petrol prices and further drive diesel costs up.

Consumers are advised to monitor changes closely as regulatory and global factors continue to influence local fuel pricing.
