NPA Deputy CEO Dramani Bukari to Be Buried in Damongo On August 20

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has announced that the burial of its late Deputy Chief Executive, Dr. Dramani Bukari, will take place on Thursday, August 20, in Damongo in the Savannah Region.

The petroleum downstream regulator said a book of condolence has been opened at the reception area of its head office in Accra for colleagues, friends and industry stakeholders to pay their respects.

According to the funeral arrangements announced by the NPA, Quran recitations in honour of Dr. Bukari will be held on Friday, August 21, at noon at the Authority’s premises before Friday prayers.

Special prayers will also be held after the Friday prayers, with all NPA staff invited to participate.

The NPA confirmed Bukari’s death on August 11 but did not disclose the cause or location of his death. The Authority described his passing as a major loss to the organisation and Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry.

Energy Minister, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, representing President John Dramani Mahama, visited Dr. Bukari’s family to convey condolences on behalf of the government and the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition.

Hon. Dr. Jinapor described the late deputy CEO as an accomplished intellectual, a humble gentleman and a dedicated public servant who distinguished himself through professionalism and commitment to national service.

Several institutions and industry players, including Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) and BOSTenergies, also expressed condolences to the NPA and Dr. Bukari’s family.

GOIL PLC Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Edward Abambire Bawa recalled meeting Dr. Bukari while they served together on a subcommittee of Ghana’s transition team, describing him as affable, kind and accommodating.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation, Onasis Kobby also expressed shock over Bukari’s death and described the loss as devastating.

The NPA said it remained deeply saddened by Dr. Bukari’s passing and prayed for strength and comfort for his family, colleagues and all those mourning him.
