Gov’t Orders Businesses Around GRIDCo Lines to Vacate in One Month

Government has given businesses operating within the transmission corridor around Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) pylons at Ashaiman Middle East one month to vacate the area.

The directive was issued by the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Dr. John Abu Jinapor, as government moves to address encroachment on GRIDCo’s transmission corridors.

Mechanics, welders, truck operators and other businesses operating within the affected area have been asked to voluntarily leave within the one-month period or face eviction.

The move follows the damage of a GRIDCo pylon at Ashaiman Middle East, heightening concerns over activities taking place within electricity transmission corridors.

Government is seeking to strengthen enforcement around the right-of-way of transmission lines to protect critical power infrastructure and prevent further incidents.

The directive forms part of broader efforts to protect Ghana’s electricity transmission network from encroachment.
