The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) has carried out a mystery shopping exercise at selected fuel stations across five regions in northern Ghana to assess compliance and service delivery.
The exercise covered outlets in the Northern, Savannah, North-East, Upper East and Upper West regions, with assessments focusing on customer service, product availability, safety practices, forecourt operations and compliance with industry requirements.
The exercise was led by COMAC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Riverson Oppong, with support from the chamber’s compliance team, who engaged directly with selected retail outlets during the assessment.
COMAC said the exercise was intended to provide an independent view of how industry standards and customer service expectations are being applied in the day-to-day operations of fuel stations.
Dr. Oppong said the field exercise would help the chamber identify areas that need improvement, recognise good practices and gain a clearer understanding of compliance gaps and operational challenges within the downstream petroleum sector.
He added that the findings would guide COMAC’s engagements with industry stakeholders and support efforts to improve standards across the sector.
COMAC said the insights from the exercise would contribute to its efforts to promote a safe, compliant, efficient, transparent and customer-oriented downstream petroleum industry.
