Pecan Energies Ghana CEO Kadijah Amoah recognised as World Economic Forum Young Global Leader

The Chief Executive Officer of Pecan Energies Ghana Limited, Mrs. Kadijah Amoah, has been recognised among the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders (YGL) Class of 2026, placing her within a distinguished global network of influential changemakers.

The recognition underscores her expanding influence in the energy sector, particularly in areas spanning energy security, economic reform, and sustainable development, with a focus on unlocking value from Ghana’s deepwater petroleum resources through structured investment and fiscal reform initiatives.

She joins a community of over 1,400 current and former Young Global Leaders across more than 120 countries, including heads of state, ministers, CEOs, and innovators working to address complex global challenges.

Mrs. Amoah has built a career marked by leadership roles across both public and private sectors, with notable contributions to the oil and gas industry.

She previously served on the Executive Management Team of Aker Energy AS, becoming the first Black woman to hold such a position in the Norwegian energy company.

She is also recognised as the first Ghanaian woman to lead an oil and gas exploration and production company.

An Eisenhower Fellow and holder of an Executive MBA from Oxford Saïd Business School, she represents a new wave of African leadership focused on institutional reform, responsible resource development, and inclusive economic growth.

She also serves on the Spain Africa Advisory Council, where she contributes to strengthening cooperation between Europe and Africa in areas including energy transition, infrastructure investment, and capital mobilisation.

The World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders programme, established in 2004, selects emerging leaders and supports them through a structured three-year development journey involving academic modules, global convenings, and peer collaboration.

The Class of 2026 includes over 100 leaders from more than 50 countries across business, government, technology, and the creative sectors, aimed at preparing them to lead in an increasingly complex global environment.

Notable alumni of the programme include former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales.
