PETROSOL Secures Approval to Raise Long-Term Capital on Ghana Stock Exchange

PETROSOL Platinum Energy PLC has secured approval from the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to raise long-term capital through the local stock market to finance its expansion plans.

Managing Director of PETROSOL, Michael Bozumbil, said the funds will support the company’s long-term growth strategy, including investments in renewable energy, solar power and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

He disclosed this at the 2026 Ghana International Petroleum Conference in Accra, describing the approval as a major milestone in the company’s growth.

According to Mr Bozumbil, the GSE and SEC assessed PETROSOL’s governance systems, regulatory compliance, credibility and growth plans before approving its request to raise what he described as “patient capital” on the stock exchange.

He said the capital would enable the company to expand its operations while positioning it to take advantage of emerging opportunities in Ghana’s energy transition.

“We have a clear plan to grow sustainably.”

PETROSOL currently operates more than 100 fuel stations across Ghana and employs about 490 people.

Founded in 2006 as a petroleum business management and consulting firm, the company entered Ghana’s oil marketing sector in 2014, following policies aimed at increasing indigenous participation in the downstream petroleum industry.

PETROSOL expands into clean energy

Beyond its conventional petroleum business, PETROSOL is investing in renewable energy and plans to install electric vehicle charging stations at selected service stations. Mr Bozumbil said the company would continue seeking partnerships and investment opportunities across the energy sector while expanding its renewable energy portfolio.

He also stressed the need for policy consistency to enable indigenous oil marketing companies to compete effectively with multinational firms. He attributed PETROSOL’s growth to corporate governance, prudent financial management and regulatory compliance despite challenging economic conditions.

The company has obtained three ISO certifications covering quality management, occupational health and safety, and environmental management. It has also received recognition from the Ghana Revenue Authority for tax compliance and remains in good standing with the National Petroleum Authority, Environmental Protection Agency and Ghana Standards Authority.

Capital raise to support expansion

The planned capital raise is expected to strengthen PETROSOL’s financial position and broaden its access to investment opportunities through Ghana’s capital market.

Mr Bozumbil said the company would continue expanding its retail network, growing its renewable energy business and creating jobs as it pursues its long-term growth strategy.
