Governor Diri Promises Improved Water Supply After Power Project Completion

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has committed to enhancing potable water availability across the state once the independent power project is completed later this year. He announced that the state will soon receive two 60-megawatt gas-powered turbines for the project, with installation at the Elebele site nearing completion. Speaking at King Koko Square in Nembe during his “Thank-You Tour,” Diri shared optimistic news regarding power supply, indicating that the state will no longer rely on existing arrangements. The power project is expected to benefit several local government areas, including Yenagoa and Nembe. Following the resolution of power issues, Diri pledged to ensure water accessibility for residents in Yenagoa, Nembe, and surrounding areas. He also addressed requests for the construction of the Igbeta-Ewoama-Okoroba road, promising to seek partnerships with federal agencies like the Niger Delta Development Commission to facilitate community connectivity. Diri expressed gratitude to the people of Nembe for their support in the 2023 governorship election, reinforcing his commitment to development in the region. Goodwill messages from local leaders commended Diri for his initiatives, particularly the ongoing Nembe-Brass Road project and peace efforts in the Nembe-Bassambiri community. They also urged for additional projects, including improved water supply and healthcare facilities.
