Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) saw its profit after tax climb to GH¢584.46 million (about $52.2 million) in 2025, up from GH¢309.23 million the previous year, Energy and Green Transition Minister, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor announced.
Hon. Dr. Jinapor shared the figures in a Facebook post on Thursday, noting that the state-owned transmission utility moved a record 25,860 GWh of electricity across the country in 2025 while maintaining strong network reliability and availability. The results were unveiled during GRIDCo’s 13th Annual General Meeting held the same day.
The minister praised the company’s board, management, and staff for their performance over the year and for handling the restoration of power after the Akosombo incident in a professional manner.
Looking ahead, Hon. Dr. Jinapor called on GRIDCo to reinforce preventive maintenance practices, system monitoring, protection coordination, and restoration readiness, while embracing new technologies to boost network reliability. He stressed that faults and weaknesses in the system should always translate into lessons learned and follow-up action.
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to backing key infrastructure projects, such as the Eastern Corridor Transmission Backbone, alongside efforts to expand generation capacity and secure the country’s energy supply, noting that a stronger generation mix needs to be paired with a resilient grid.
Hon. Dr. Jinapor added that the broader ambition is to reestablish GRIDCo as one of Africa’s most dependable, forward-thinking, and financially sound transmission utilities, delivering the reliable electricity service Ghanaians expect.
