Ghana is on track to achieve at least 35 percent renewable energy in its national electricity generation mix by the end of 2025. Energy and Green Transition Minister Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor made the announcement at the opening of the 31st Africa Oil Week in Accra, the first time the event is being hosted outside South Africa. He credited President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to expand the ministry’s mandate to include Green Transition as a key driver of the country’s sustainability agenda.
Hon. Jinapor said Ghana’s approach is to balance renewable expansion with continued use of hydrocarbons to ensure energy security while protecting the environment. He called for global partnerships that deliver not only capital but also technology and innovation to support Ghana’s clean energy transition.
