Ghana Reaffirms Support for Regional Energy Integration at Accra Power Meeting

In Accra, Ghana hosted a high-level energy meeting on June 25, 2025, reaffirming its commitment to regional electricity integration through the Côte d’Ivoire–Ghana Interconnection Reinforcement Project.

Solomon Adjetey, Chief Director at the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, spoke on behalf of the Energy Minister, stressing the strategic importance of the 330kV double-circuit transmission line for sustainable power development.

He acknowledged that Ghana’s energy sector has seen limited progress over the past decade and highlighted the project as a key step toward boosting electricity generation and stability.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders under the West African Power Pool (WAPP) framework, which seeks to strengthen cross-border energy trade across West Africa.

Adjetey emphasized that the project is the result of extensive technical collaboration and analytical work, and its findings will guide critical infrastructure decisions going forward.

He reassured attendees of Ghana’s full institutional backing, pledging technical expertise, resources, and transparency throughout the implementation process.

The framework supporting the project includes governance structures to ensure cooperation, accountability, and successful execution between the two nations.

The Côte d’Ivoire–Ghana interconnection is seen as a cornerstone for future energy security and integration in the West African region.

Ghana’s leadership role in this initiative reinforces its dedication to regional cooperation and long-term clean energy goals.

The project signals a new chapter in collective energy resilience and shared infrastructure across the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
