
The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, has inaugurated a new Board of the Petroleum Commission in Accra.
The ceremony, held this week, marked the beginning of a critical mandate aimed at reversing Ghana’s declining oil reserves and boosting national production.
Hon. Jinapor tasked the new board with attracting global oil giants while ensuring sustainable management of the country’s petroleum resources.
He underscored the urgency of adopting innovative strategies and strong regulatory oversight to confront industry challenges.
The minister cited dwindling reserves, reduced investments, and arbitration disputes as pressing issues affecting Ghana’s upstream oil sector.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening local content and encouraging Ghanaian participation in exploration and production.
Board Chairman Ernest Thompson, on behalf of members, pledged a firm commitment to work tirelessly toward reviving oil output.
He assured stakeholders that the board’s actions will contribute significantly to the country’s economic prosperity.
Other members of the board include Madam Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle, Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse, Crisler Akwei Ankrah, Joseph Kwasi Mensah, Dr. Hasiyatu Abubakari, and Hassan Thompson Osman.
