The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will begin releasing power outage schedules at shorter and more frequent intervals as restoration works at the Akosombo Hydroelectric Plant continue to progress in real time.
Energy and Green Transition Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor, announced the change during the Government Accountability Forum, explaining that the fast-moving nature of repair works has made long-term load-shedding plans impractical.
He noted that generation capacity at Akosombo is fluctuating as engineers work continuously to restore affected units, making power availability highly dynamic.
According to him, unlike routine load management where outages are scheduled in advance for fixed periods, the current situation requires more flexible communication with the public as conditions change within hours.
Mr. Jinapor stressed that engineers are working around the clock with the aim of restoring all affected units within the week, depending on the pace of technical progress.
He added that government remains committed to transparency throughout the recovery process, stating that citizens will be informed promptly as new developments emerge.
