ECG Launches Nationwide Drive to Recover Unpaid Bills from June 16

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a nationwide revenue mobilisation campaign aimed at recovering outstanding payments from all customer categories, including residential, commercial, industrial, and government institutions.

The two-day exercise will take place across Ghana from June 16 to June 17, 2025, according to a statement released by ECG on June 11.

The initiative is part of ECG’s broader effort to retrieve millions in unpaid electricity bills that continue to hamper the company’s operations and financial health.

Customers with arrears—ranging from private homes to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs)—will be the focus of the operation. The ECG emphasized that no group will be exempt from the exercise.

Special teams will oversee the revenue mobilisation and are authorized to arrest and prosecute individuals who obstruct the process or reconnect themselves illegally after being disconnected.

ECG has issued a strong warning to defaulters, urging them to settle their debts promptly to avoid disconnection and additional reconnection fees.

Any attempt to interfere with ECG’s efforts or manipulate electricity connections during the period will result in prosecution, the company said.

The statement serves as a final reminder to customers to clear outstanding balances to maintain uninterrupted service.

Customers are encouraged to verify their account status and make payments through ECG’s approved channels before June 16.

The mobilization effort reflects ECG’s push to improve revenue collection, ensure service sustainability, and hold all consumers accountable for power usage.
