The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has criticized the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for importing over 1,000 containers of electrical cables, including aluminium conductors locally produced in Ghana.
In a statement on April 5, 2025, AGI described the move as damaging, especially for a debt-ridden state entity expected to support local industry.
The imports violate Ghana’s local content regulation (L.I. 2354), raising concerns about ECG’s procurement practices and accountability.
