The West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) has announced that it will temporarily shut down its gas receiving facilities in Nigeria, Benin, Togo, and Ghana between Sunday, January 18, and January 31, 2026, for routine maintenance.
The scheduled Emergency Shutdown (ESD) and High Integrity Pressure Protection System (HIPPS) tests are expected to last up to nine hours. During this period, WAPCo’s facilities will not transport gas to customers in the four countries.
“These tests are mandated under the West African Gas Pipeline Authority (WAGPA) regulations and are planned collaboratively with key stakeholders in the four countries,” the company said in a statement on its official social media platforms.
WAPCo explained that the tests follow industry best practices to safeguard the integrity, safety, and reliability of its gas transportation infrastructure. The company transports gas on behalf of power generation firms through its pipeline network spanning Nigeria, Benin, Togo, and Ghana.
