Zambia’s Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has reduced the pump prices of all major petroleum products for August 2026, despite a depreciation of the kwacha against the US dollar.
ERB Board Chairperson James Banda said the reduction was mainly driven by lower international prices for petroleum products during the review period.
International petrol prices fell from US$105.82 to US$96.92 per barrel, while Jet A-1 and kerosene prices declined significantly from US$158.97 to US$123.59 per barrel. Diesel prices, however, recorded a marginal increase from US$125.65 to US$126.58 per barrel.
Over the same period, the kwacha weakened from K18.35 to K19.01 against the US dollar.
Under the revised national uniform pricing structure, petrol will now sell at K25.29 per litre, down from K26.15, while diesel has been reduced to K26.86 from K28.11.
Kerosene will retail at K27.02 per litre, compared with the previous K28.32, while Jet A-1 has been reduced from K30.27 to K28.71 per litre.
The latest adjustments represent reductions of 3.29% for petrol, 4.45% for diesel, 4.59% for kerosene and 5.15% for Jet A-1.
