Ugandan Officials Enhance Expertise in Small Hydropower and Rural Sustainability Through Training in China

Two officials from Uganda’s district governments are currently enhancing their skills in small hydropower development and sustainable rural community practices through a training program in China. Kisadha Alex, Senior District Engineer of Luuka District, and Mukaya Muhammudu, Senior Agricultural Engineer from Jinja District Local Government, are attending the BCD-China Training Seminar, which focuses on small hydropower stations and sustainable community development for officials from developing nations.

Organized by the Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Center, the seminar aims to provide participants with advanced knowledge, global perspectives, and practical skills in sustainable water resource management and rural energy development. This training is critical for equipping Ugandan officials with the tools necessary to support local hydropower initiatives and foster sustainable development in their communities.

Upon returning to Uganda, Kisadha and Mukaya are expected to apply the insights and skills gained from this experience to improve the livelihoods of rural populations. Their participation underscores the importance of international collaboration in enhancing local capacities for sustainable development and effective resource management.
