Tullow Ghana Restores Gas Supply to Atuabo After FPSO Downtime

Tullow Ghana, the lead operator of the Jubilee Field, has resumed gas exports to the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant following the successful resolution of a technical issue on the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah (KNK).

The company confirmed that operations were temporarily suspended over the weekend due to a gas system trip on the offshore production platform. A dedicated technical team swiftly responded to the situation, identifying the root cause and implementing corrective measures to restore functionality.

As of Monday, May 12, gas exports resumed at a rate of approximately 100 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd). This is expected to support Ghana’s domestic energy needs by boosting power generation and easing pressure on other energy sources.

The FPSO Kwame Nkrumah, a key asset in Ghana’s oil and gas sector, plays a central role in production activities within the Jubilee oil field. Operating since 2010, the vessel has the capacity to produce 120,000 barrels of oil and 160 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

Tullow Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations that contribute to national energy security. Earlier this year, the company completed a planned 16-day maintenance shutdown at the Jubilee Field, during which gas was temporarily sourced from the TEN fields to maintain supply levels.

The resumption of full operations at the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah marks a positive development for Ghana’s energy sector, reinforcing Tullow’s role as a key player in meeting the country’s power and industrial needs.
