Ghana’s Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has engaged officials of Italian energy company ENI in discussions centred on the company’s oil and gas operations in Ghana, ongoing exploration activities and future investment opportunities.
The ENI delegation was led by the company’s Chief Operating Officer for Global Natural Resources, Guido Brusco.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed ENI’s contribution to Ghana’s upstream petroleum industry since it began operations in 2009 through the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) block, which includes the Sankofa and Gye Nyame fields.
Dr. Jinapor applauded the company for increasing crude oil production by successfully drilling additional wells to offset declining output. He also recognised ENI’s gas production of 282 million standard cubic feet per day, which continues to support electricity generation, as well as its operational reliability rate of more than 99.9%.
The discussions also covered the progress of appraisal drilling, planned field expansion activities and the company’s broader investment outlook in Ghana’s petroleum sector.
In a post shared on social media after the meeting, Hon. Dr. Jinapor reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining a stable, transparent and investor-friendly environment that encourages responsible investment, boosts hydrocarbon production and strengthens the country’s energy security.
He added that the government remains committed to working closely with ENI and other industry partners to maximise the value of Ghana’s oil and gas resources while delivering long-term benefits to the country.
