PETROSOL Gets Approval to Raise Long-Term Capital on Ghana Stock Exchange

PETROSOL Platinum Energy PLC has secured approval from the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to raise long-term capital through the local stock market, as the indigenous oil marketing company positions itself for further expansion.

PETROSOL Managing Director Michael Bozumbil said the approval followed an assessment of the company’s corporate governance, regulatory compliance, credibility and growth strategy.

He described the approval as an important milestone for PETROSOL, which has grown from a petroleum consulting and business management firm established in 2006 into a major indigenous Oil Marketing Company (OMC).

Speaking at the Ghana International Petroleum Conference in Accra, Mr. Bozumbil said the capital raised would support the company’s long-term growth plans, including investments in renewable energy, solar power and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

He said PETROSOL intends to pursue sustainable growth by developing strategic partnerships and taking advantage of government policies aimed at expanding opportunities within Ghana’s energy sector.

PETROSOL entered the oil marketing business in 2014, following the introduction of policies designed to increase indigenous participation in Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry.

The company has since expanded its operations to more than 100 service stations nationwide and employs approximately 490 people.

Mr. Bozumbil attributed the company’s growth to strong corporate governance, prudent financial management and adherence to regulatory requirements despite challenging economic conditions.

PETROSOL has secured three International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certifications in quality management, occupational health and safety, and environmental management.

The company has also been recognised by the Ghana Revenue Authority for its tax compliance and remains compliant with the requirements of the National Petroleum Authority, Environmental Protection Agency and Ghana Standards Authority.

As part of its diversification strategy, PETROSOL is expanding into renewable energy and plans to introduce electric vehicle charging stations at selected service stations to support Ghana’s transition towards cleaner energy.

Mr. Bozumbil stressed that consistent government policies would be essential to enabling indigenous companies to compete effectively with multinational operators in the downstream petroleum sector.

He said PETROSOL’s support for the 2026 Ghana International Petroleum Conference also demonstrated its commitment to promoting industry dialogue and advancing innovation, investment and sustainable development.

Looking ahead, the company plans to expand its retail network, grow its renewable energy portfolio and create additional employment opportunities.

Mr. Bozumbil said PETROSOL would continue investing in its growth while maintaining its position as a value-for-money brand and responsible corporate citizen.

The planned capital raise is expected to strengthen PETROSOL’s financial capacity and create broader opportunities for investment through Ghana’s capital market.
