NPA Chief Godwin Tameklo Wins Petroleum Regulatory CEO of the Year Award

The Chief Executive of Ghana’s National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, has been honoured as Petroleum Regulatory CEO of the Year at the 2026 Africa Public Sector Conference and Awards (APSCA).

The award was presented at a ceremony held on Friday, October 16, at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra. NPA staff received the honour on behalf of Mr. Tameklo.

The recognition celebrates his leadership in advancing the authority’s regulatory responsibilities and strengthening governance, operational efficiency and institutional performance within Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry.

Under his leadership, the NPA has pursued measures to improve regulatory systems, expand the use of technology, enhance operational effectiveness and promote transparency and competition across the sector.

The authority also secured two institutional honours at the ceremony, receiving awards for Best Use of Technology in Downstream Regulation and Excellence in Gender Inclusion and Workplace Diversity.

The institutional awards recognise the NPA’s efforts to integrate technology into petroleum regulation and promote an inclusive workplace, complementing the recognition of Mr. Tameklo’s leadership.

The three awards highlight the authority’s work in regulatory innovation, institutional development and workplace inclusion within Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
