Motorists Face Higher Petrol Prices from June 1 as Pump Prices Approach GH¢16 Per Litre

Motorists in Ghana are expected to pay more for petrol beginning Monday, June 1, 2026, as fuel prices increase under the first pricing window for the month.

Petrol, kerosene, and LPG prices are all projected to rise at the pumps, while diesel prices are expected to record a slight reduction.

The petrol price floor for the new pricing window has been set at GH¢15.20 per litre, reflecting an increase of GH¢0.60 from the GH¢14.60 per litre recorded during the second pricing window of May.

LPG prices have also been adjusted upward, with the new price floor increasing from GH¢13.16 per kilogram to GH¢13.48 per kilogram, representing a GH¢0.32 increase.

Diesel, however, is expected to decline marginally, with the price floor reduced from GH¢15.81 per litre to GH¢15.49 per litre.

The price floor represents the minimum price at which Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and LPG Marketing Companies are permitted to sell petroleum products during a specific pricing window.

Despite the approved petrol price floor, the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) projects that actual pump prices for petrol could increase by between 4.20% and 6.20%, potentially pushing prices to nearly GH¢15.92 per litre.

LPG prices are also projected to rise by as much as 2.24%, while diesel prices could decline by between 1.65% and 2.00%.

According to COMAC, the projected price movements are influenced by lower global petroleum prices, exchange rate pressures, and continued government-industry interventions aimed at cushioning consumers from the full impact of international market volatility.
