Govt inaugurates new GNPC Board to drive energy sector growth

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr.John Abdulai Jinapor, has inaugurated a new Board of Directors for the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), charging them to reposition the Corporation for a more sustainable and productive future.

Describing GNPC as a critical national asset, the Minister called for visionary leadership and strategic oversight to drive growth, ensure energy security, and support the government’s expansion plans through GNPC’s subsidiary, Explorco. He also revealed plans to review the GNPC Act, originally passed in 1983, to align with current industry realities.

Board Chairman Prof. Joseph Oteng-Adjei thanked President John Dramani Mahama for the confidence reposed in the team and pledged a results-driven approach. He assured the Minister of the board’s readiness to collaborate with stakeholders in tackling the sector’s challenges. Other members of the board include Acting CEO Mr. Kwame Ntow Amoah, MPs Hajia Zuwera Ibrahim and Seidu Alhassan Alajor, as well as Mr. Mawutor Agbavitor, Mr. Kwame Jantuah, and Mr. Andani Yakubu Abdulai (Yoo-Naa).
