Ghana National Gas Limited Company (GNGLC) has refuted claims circulating on social media and traditional outlets regarding a failed maintenance shutdown at the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant. In a statement signed by Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, the Head of Corporate Affairs, the company clarified that the maintenance was successfully completed ahead of schedule and adhered to international safety and operational standards. The plant was restarted and began delivering sales gas to major downstream consumers on August 27, 2025, after a rapid five-day restart, compared to the typical 14 days required for similar operations.
The maintenance work included vital tasks such as calibrating safety systems, overhauling the main transmission compressor, and servicing the heat medium system. Both the CEO and the Deputy Chief Executive for Technical and Operations were involved in overseeing the successful execution of the maintenance, which showcased improved planning and technical excellence.
GNGLC emphasized the importance of accurate information dissemination and urged media outlets to verify details from official sources before publication, warning that unverified claims can cause public anxiety and confusion. The company reassured stakeholders that the Atuabo plant remains in optimal condition, ensuring a reliable gas supply critical for national energy stability.
