Dangote Refinery Eyes Global Jet Fuel Market Amid Export Surplus

Nigeria’s 650,000-barrel-per-day Dangote refinery is positioning itself as a major global supplier of jet fuel, leveraging surplus production to expand exports beyond Africa, Chief Executive David Bird said on Tuesday.

Speaking at the S&P Global Energy Middle East Petroleum and Gas Conference in London, Bird said demand for jet fuel across Africa remains relatively low compared with other regions, leaving the refinery with significant export volumes.

The refinery has already established itself as a reliable supplier of high-quality refined products and is capable of delivering jet fuel competitively to international markets, he said.

Bird noted that the facility’s production capacity enables it to meet domestic requirements while maintaining substantial volumes for overseas buyers.

The comments underscore Dangote refinery’s ambition to strengthen its presence in global fuel markets and capitalize on growing demand for aviation fuel worldwide.

Located in Nigeria, the refinery is Africa’s largest and is expected to play an increasingly important role in reducing the continent’s dependence on imported refined products while boosting exports.
