CBOD and COMAC Engage To Strengthen Cooperation In Downstream Petroleum Sector

The Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) as part of efforts to deepen engagement and enhance collaboration within the downstream petroleum industry.

The CBOD delegation was led by Chief Executive Officer Patrick Ofori, and included Richard Kissi (Head of Finance and Industry Operations), Angela Osei-Badu (Member Relations and HR Manager), Ebenezer Yidana (Research Officer), Evelyn Asare (Corporate and External Affairs Officer), and Oscar Cyril K. Mingah (Operations Assistant Officer).

On the COMAC side, the team was headed by Chief Executive Officer Riverson Oppong, together with Mohammed Issah (Director for Policy and Regulations), Samuel Wristberg (Head of Policy and Research), Adjoa Baah Akuffo (Head of Administration and Legal Advisor), Abena Ofosua Larbi (Senior Corporate Communication Officer), Courage Agblevor (Senior Compliance Officer), and Genny Dodoo (Executive Assistant).

During the meeting, both organisations exchanged views on their governance systems, operational challenges, and the broader issues affecting their members and the downstream petroleum sector.

The discussions focused on identifying practical solutions in areas such as compliance and enforcement standards, subscription structures for members, pricing trends, and the wider commercial and regulatory landscape influencing the industry.

Participants also highlighted the importance of maintaining product quality, protecting brand reputation, and strengthening operational discipline to build trust and confidence within the market.

As part of efforts to promote accountability and stability in the sector, the two bodies explored the possibility of establishing a joint Dispute Resolution Committee and enhancing credit management and financial risk control systems.

The engagement also identified opportunities for closer cooperation through coordinated advocacy, strategic policy engagement, and joint industry initiatives aimed at supporting sustainable growth and stability in the downstream petroleum sector.
