Zambia’s Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has maintained the prices of petroleum products for September, despite increases in international oil prices and movements in the exchange rate.
ERB Board Chairperson, Mr. James Banda said in a statement on Monday that international prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene and Jet A-1 had faced upward pressure due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and exchange-rate fluctuations.
The regulator said it was able to keep pump prices unchanged through measures such as the suspension of excise duty, zero-rating of value-added tax and the application of its regulatory price-smoothing mechanism.
The national uniform pump prices per litre will remain as follows:
Petrol: 25.29 Zambian kwacha
Diesel: 26.86 Zambian kwacha
Kerosene: 27.02 Zambian kwacha
Jet A-1: 28.71 Zambian kwacha
Mr. Banda said the prices would remain unchanged until the regulator conducts its next scheduled review.
