
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Gas Company, Judith Adjobah Blay, has urged women to take practical and measurable steps to advance gender equality rather than relying on symbolic participation.
Ms. Blay made the remarks in Accra during the launch of the Ghana Gas Ladies initiative as part of activities marking International Women’s Month 2026. Her message aligned with Ghana’s International Women’s Day theme, “Give to Gain”, which promotes collaboration and shared commitment in the pursuit of gender equality.
Addressing participants at the event, Ms. Blay the first female CEO of Ghana Gas said the theme should serve as a call for deeper action, particularly in mentorship, inclusion and creating opportunities for women in the workplace.
She stressed that gender equality should not remain a recurring slogan but must translate into tangible contributions and long-term commitments.
Ms. Blay challenged women to reflect on what they can personally contribute to the movement, urging them to move beyond rhetoric and demonstrate leadership through action.
She noted that achieving gender parity requires collective effort, responsibility and sustained collaboration across institutions.
The Ghana Gas CEO also encouraged women to position themselves for strategic roles within the energy sector to help drive innovation and sustainable growth.
According to her, increased female participation in leadership and technical positions will strengthen the sector and accelerate progress toward inclusive development.She said initiatives such as the Ghana Gas Ladies platform are intended to support mentorship and professional growth while empowering more women to thrive in the energy industry.
Meanwhie Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, also urged women to mentor one another and work collectively to increase female participation in technical and leadership roles, noting that empowering women strengthens institutions, industries, and society as a whole. She highlighted the achievements of women in the sector, including those honoured at the Ghana Energy Awards, and called on associations to play a proactive role in creating opportunities for the next generation of female professionals.
