U.S. President Donald Trump met senior oil and gas executives at the White House on Tuesday to assess the energy impact of the ongoing Iran conflict, according to an Axios report published Wednesday.
The meeting brought together top administration officials, including Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, alongside industry leaders such as Mike Wirth of Chevron.
Talks focused on the fallout from the prolonged Iran standoff, which has disrupted global oil supplies and pushed up prices, raising economic concerns in the United States.
Officials and executives discussed strategies to stabilise energy markets, including boosting domestic production and monitoring oil futures, natural gas flows and shipping logistics.
Developments in Venezuela were also reviewed as Washington explores alternative supply sources amid tightening global crude availability.
The meeting comes as the Iran conflict shows little sign of resolution, with supply disruptions continuing to ripple through international energy markets.
Rising fuel costs have increased pressure on the administration to respond, particularly as higher oil prices weigh on consumers and economic stability.
A White House official said the president regularly engages energy executives to gauge both domestic and global market conditions during periods of volatility.
The Axios report noted that discussions also covered shipping constraints linked to tensions around key transit routes, including the Strait of Hormuz.
