The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, has inaugurated the reconstituted board of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo). The ceremony took place in Accra, where the minister outlined the government’s expectations for the new leadership team.

During his address, Hon. Jinapor highlighted the urgent need to expand Ghana’s energy infrastructure to meet the country’s rising power demand. He stressed that strengthening the national grid was vital to ensure efficient and reliable power transmission nationwide.

The minister further urged the new board members to leverage their expertise to provide strategic direction, sound governance, and innovative solutions that would boost the stability of the energy sector. He emphasized that the board’s work would be central to Ghana’s green transition and long-term energy security.

On behalf of the newly inaugurated board, Chairperson Kuukua Maurice Ankrah expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve. She pledged the board’s commitment to advancing GRIDCo’s role in ensuring reliable power transmission and contributing to Ghana’s overall economic growth.

Ankrah reaffirmed that the board would work diligently to align with government policies and meet the expectations of both leadership and the Ghanaian people. She noted that GRIDCo’s performance was crucial to sustaining national development through uninterrupted electricity supply.

The minister’s charge also comes at a time when the country’s power demand continues to grow, requiring significant investment in both generation and transmission infrastructure. Hon. Jinapor stressed that this challenge presented an opportunity for GRIDCo to modernize its systems.

The newly sworn-in board is expected to play a critical role in shaping Ghana’s energy future, balancing technical efficiency with sustainable growth. Their decisions are anticipated to influence how effectively the country navigates current and future power sector challenges.

The reconstituted GRIDCo board includes Kuukua Maurice Ankrah as Chairperson, Mark Awuah Baah as Managing Director, and members Daniel Atchule, Joshua Anaman Sackey, Muhammed Bashiru Nii Narh Alema, Solomon Kuyon, and Joseph Kwame Kumah.

With the government’s call for innovation and strategic leadership, the new board’s success will be measured by its ability to stabilize the grid, expand infrastructure, and guarantee reliable power delivery to households and industries.
