In a move to strengthen energy sector ties between Ghana and Indonesia, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Ghana, Paskal A. B. Rois, has paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana’s Petroleum Commission, Madam Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle.
The engagement focused on deepening bilateral collaboration and exploring investment opportunities in Ghana’s upstream oil and gas sector.
Mr.Rois underscored Indonesia’s vast experience in both offshore and onshore petroleum operations and pointed to growing interest from Indonesian state-owned enterprises and private firms to invest in Ghana. He highlighted PT Pertamina, Indonesia’s national oil company, as a potential partner with a strong interest in contributing to Ghana’s energy development.
Madam Victoria Hardcastle welcomed the interest, indicating that Ghana has several available oil blocks in deep-sea, shallow water, and onshore areas open for exploration and development. She also expressed optimism about future partnerships, particularly in technology and skills transfer.
The meeting also touched on education and capacity-building. Mr. Rois introduced the Indonesian government’s KNB Scholarship, which offers Ghanaian students, especially engineering students, opportunities to study in Indonesia.
He proposed that the Petroleum Commission leverage this initiative to train its staff and strengthen local expertise. He further recommended collaboration with Pertamina University for both short-term courses and full academic programs tailored to the needs of the oil and gas sector.
