The Board of Directors of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has organised its first direct company wide engagement with staff through a durbar held at the company’s headquarters in Tema.
The event brought together employees from GRIDCo’s various operational areas and created an opportunity for open interaction between the board, management, and staff.
The durbar also served as a platform to honour engineers and technicians whose efforts helped restore full operations at the Akosombo Generating Station following the April 23, 2026 fire incident.
The engagement was attended by the entire board, including Board Chairlady Kuukua Maurice Ankrah; Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, Paramount Chief and President of the Akwamu Traditional Council; Nana Amoasi VII; Member of Parliament for Krachi Nchumuru Constituency, Hon. Solomon Kuyon; Member of Parliament for Kintampo North Constituency, Hon. Joseph Kwame Kumah; Eng. Daniel Atchulo; and Alhaji Muhammed Bashiru Nii Narh Alema.
Also present were Acting Chief Executive, Ing. Frank Otchere, and members of GRIDCo’s senior management team. The gathering marked the first occasion in the company’s history that the board has directly engaged staff across the organisation in this format, reflecting a renewed focus on transparency, communication, and stronger institutional relationships.
During the event, staff members participated in discussions and interacted directly with leadership on issues affecting the company and its operations.
Board Chairlady, Kuukua Maurice Ankrah, highlighted the significance of the engagement and reaffirmed the board’s full support for management and staff.
A lawyer with 24 years of professional experience, she is the first woman to chair GRIDCo’s board and currently the only female board chair among the seventeen entities under Ghana’s Ministry of Energy and Green Transition.
Having previously served on GRIDCo’s inaugural board from 2009 to 2013, she brings institutional continuity and experience to the role after witnessing the company’s development from its early years.
Her appointment also reflects President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to affirmative action and the promotion of qualified women into top leadership positions within Ghana’s public institutions.
