Ghana is currently hosting Africa Oil Week (AOW) 2025, known as Energy Week, in Accra from today, September 15, to Thursday, September 18. This significant event gathers industry stakeholders to focus on upstream development, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and exploration in Africa’s oil sector. Organized in collaboration with the Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC), AOW aims to serve as the premier global platform for impactful energy deals.
The event seeks to bring together influential government officials, investors, and corporate leaders to facilitate high-impact M&A transactions, raise capital, secure new licenses, and foster strategic partnerships. According to information from the Ghana News Agency, the summit is dedicated to advancing upstream development and driving investment in the African oil and gas industry.
Key topics will include policy dialogue, energy regulation, project development, and capacity building. Prominent speakers include Mr. John Jinapor, Ghana’s Minister of Energy and Green Transition, along with experts from the African Union, the World Bank, and major industry players.
Participants will comprise Heads of State, Ministers, Commissioners, industry leaders, and CEOs. A highlight of the AOW is the Africa Energy M&A Summit, a rebranded version of the previous Prospect Forum, showcasing M&A and farm-in opportunities across the continent. This event, which has been crucial since its inception in 2017, aims to drive transactions and accelerate upstream development. The Energy Week 2025 is supported by key organizations, including the African Union and the African Petroleum Producers Organisation (APPO).
