On September 14, 2025, a high-level delegation from the African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation (APPO), comprising chief executives and representatives from National Oil Companies (NOCs), visited the Sentuo Oil Refinery in Accra. This visit was part of the lead-up to the 7th APPO NOC CEOs Forum, scheduled for September 15, 2025. The delegation, led by Kwame Ntow Amoah, Acting CEO of GNPC and Chair of the Forum, along with APPO Secretary General Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim, was warmly received by Sentuo’s management.

During the visit, Amoah emphasized the importance of such engagements in promoting Africa’s self-sufficiency within the energy sector, highlighting Sentuo as a prime example of leveraging local infrastructure to meet energy demands. Eric Lin, General Manager of Sentuo, expressed gratitude for the visit, noting it as an opportunity to explore potential collaborations that would enhance their role in Ghana and beyond.

Sentuo’s Corporate Affairs Director, Ben Cobblah, and Technical Advisor, George Andoh, provided an overview of the refinery’s operations, which currently processes 40,000 barrels of oil per day with an investment of approximately $980 million, employing over 420 locals. Andoh pointed out the critical role of GNPC’s partnerships in Sentuo’s development, indicating that collaboration is key to advancing Ghana’s refining capabilities.

Following the presentations, the APPO delegation toured the facility, gaining insights into the refinery’s processes and future opportunities. This visit set the stage for ongoing discussions about regional cooperation in refining and downstream capabilities, aligning with the objectives of the upcoming APPO NOC CEOs Forum.
