Ghana’s capital, Accra, became the center of Africa’s energy dialogue as it hosted Africa Oil Week (AOW): Energy 2025, a landmark event that opened with over 1,200 participants from across the continent and beyond. The gathering brought together government leaders, global investors, and major industry players to discuss opportunities and strategies for Africa’s evolving energy sector.
Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Jinapor, expressed heartfelt gratitude to delegates, sponsors, and partners for making the conference a resounding success. He acknowledged the support of Ghana’s Presidency under John Dramani Mahama, fellow African energy ministers, international dignitaries, and corporate sponsors whose efforts elevated the event’s global standing.
Prominent energy companies such as ExxonMobil, Chevron, ENI, Seplat, FIRST E&P, Oando, and TGS were highlighted for their strong commitment to driving Africa’s upstream oil and gas development. Jinapor described the conference as more than a meeting, calling it “a platform where deals are done, where the region converges, and where Africa celebrates its industry with pride.”
Hon. John Jinapor underscored Ghana’s growing role as a hub for investment, dialogue, and regional collaboration, noting that the success of AOW reflects Africa’s unity and collective ambition for energy security and economic growth. He stressed that the platform belongs to the continent and should continue to serve as a catalyst for sustainable development.
The conference also marked the 40th Anniversary of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), which Jinapor hailed as a symbol of resilience and national achievement. He pointed to GNPC’s milestone as proof of what African institutions can accomplish through vision, innovation, and determination.
Looking ahead, Jinapor declared that what was witnessed in Accra is only “the beginning of something much bigger,” predicting that the partnerships, investments, and strategies forged during the week will shape Africa’s energy future.
As AOW: Energy 2025 continues, delegates are expected to move beyond dialogue to concrete action, ensuring that the continent’s abundant resources deliver maximum value for its people. The event stands as a defining moment for Africa’s upstream energy industry and a testament to Ghana’s leadership in advancing the green transition while supporting sustainable growth.
