National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) has attributed the recent intermittent electricity outages affecting parts of the country to major technical faults within sections of the national power distribution network.
According to the utility company, the faults have disrupted the stability and reliability of electricity supply, leading to unplanned outages in several communities.
In a statement issued on Saturday, National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) said its engineers and technical teams are working continuously to identify the causes of the faults and undertake repair works and network upgrades aimed at restoring stable power supply.
The company further announced that some electricity feeders may continue to experience load shedding, especially during peak demand hours, as authorities work to manage limited generation capacity and stabilize the system.
National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the disruptions, particularly as the country prepares for the Eid al-Adha celebrations, also known locally as Tobaski, which is traditionally associated with increased electricity demand.
The utility apologized to customers for the outages and thanked the public for their patience and cooperation while restoration efforts continue.
According to the company, additional measures are being implemented across operational areas to strengthen network stability and reduce further disruptions.
