Energy Minister Assures Stable Power Supply After Akosombo Incident

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor has assured Ghanaians that the country’s energy supply remains stable, despite recent public concerns over power reliability and infrastructure challenges following the Akosombo dam fire incident.

Speaking during the President’s “Reset Tour” in the Eastern Region, the Energy Minister commended staff of the Volta River Authority and the Ghana Grid Company Limited for their role in maintaining and restoring electricity supply across the country. He praised their efforts in sustaining operations under challenging conditions.

The minister also highlighted ongoing government interventions to strengthen the power distribution network, including the installation of over 2,500 new transformers nationwide. He explained that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve reliability and reduce outages, stressing that the equipment is newly procured under the current administration.
