The Energy Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to driving Ghana’s clean energy transition through a series of regulatory reforms, innovation-driven initiatives, and strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening the country’s sustainable energy ecosystem.
Speaking at the Sustainable Energy B2B Expo 2026 in Accra, Deputy Executive Secretary Mr. Chris Yalley outlined key ongoing interventions, including the development of an Energy Performance Certification framework for buildings, progress on Electric Vehicle charging regulations, and the implementation of a Net Metering Programme.
The net metering initiative will enable households and businesses with rooftop solar systems to feed excess electricity back into the national grid, a move expected to democratise energy generation and reduce pressure on national supply infrastructure.
Mr. Yalley also highlighted efforts to strengthen Ghana’s clean energy landscape through skills development programmes, renewable energy deployment, and the upcoming Public Facility Sustainable Energy Action Plan (PF-SEAP), which is designed to improve energy efficiency and accelerate clean energy adoption in public institutions.
He noted that the Sustainable Energy B2B Expo, organised by the Association of Ghana Industries Energy Service Centre (AGI-ESC) under the theme “Powering Industry Through Sustainable Energy,” provided a critical platform for policymakers, industry leaders, development partners, and private sector actors to explore investment and partnership opportunities.
