
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has initiated comprehensive maintenance efforts to improve transmission line reliability in the Ashanti Region. This initiative, carried out by the Ashanti Sub-Transmission team, aims to restore the integrity of the power system and ensure optimal performance of transmission assets. The exercise focuses on minimizing unplanned outages and enhancing supply stability by addressing technical weaknesses along the lines.
During a recent visit to the region, Managing Director Ing. Kwame Kpekpena emphasized the importance of reliability-focused maintenance interventions to guarantee uninterrupted power delivery to customers. The defect correction activities included tightening loose fittings, replacing damaged insulators, clearing vegetation along the right-of-way, and rectifying sagging conductors identified during patrols.
Ing. James Mensah Yevunya, Network Maintenance Manager for Ashanti Sub-Transmission, noted that these measures are part of a broader plan to ensure safe and efficient operation of the transmission system. By correcting these defects, ECG aims to restore the integrity of its lines and secure the power backbone for the region.
