The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) has rejected the Ghana Revenue Authority’s directive to implement the new Energy Sector Shortfall and Debt Repayment Levy (ESSDRL) from Monday, June 9, 2025.
In a statement, COMAC described the move as coercive and poorly timed, citing a lack of industry consultation. The directive, issued on a public holiday and delivered on Sunday, gave companies less than 24 hours to comply.
COMAC likened the move to a “Rambo-style directive” and said its earlier proposals to the Energy Ministry were ignored.
