APPO, GECF Formalise Partnership to Deepen Cooperation in Energy Sector

The African Petroleum Producers’ Organization (APPO) and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration and expanding strategic cooperation across the petroleum industry.

The agreement was signed on July 20, 2026, at APPO’s headquarters in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, by APPO Secretary General Farid Ghezali and GECF Secretary General Philip Mshelbila, representing their respective organisations.

The ceremony was attended by Congo’s Minister of Hydrocarbons, Stev Simplice Onanga, who served as the guest of honour.

Under the agreement, APPO and GECF will enhance dialogue between the two organisations while pursuing joint initiatives and other areas of shared interest within the energy sector.

The Doha-based GECF, which brings together many of the world’s leading natural gas-exporting countries, works to promote cooperation between gas producers and consumers in support of stable, secure and sustainable global gas markets.
