The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition Restores Power Supply on Aboadze–Tarkwa Transmission Line After Swift Repairs

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced the complete restoration of power on the 161kV Aboadze–Tarkwa transmission line, which had recently suffered damage leading to electricity outages in parts of the Western and Ashanti Regions. The announcement was made in a statement released on Thursday, October 16, 2025, confirming that electricity supply was successfully restored at 13:22 hours after extensive repair works.

According to the Ministry, the restoration was made possible through the dedicated efforts of technical teams from the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), who worked tirelessly to complete repairs within a short timeframe. The Ministry extended appreciation to residents and businesses in the affected areas, particularly Tarkwa and Kumasi, for their patience and understanding during the outage period.

In its statement, the Ministry also commended engineers and support agencies for their professionalism and swift response in addressing the issue, which helped to minimize the impact of the power disruption on households and industries.

Reaffirming its commitment to energy reliability and system stability, the Ministry emphasized its ongoing collaboration with key power sector stakeholders to strengthen the country’s transmission infrastructure.
